This will be a head race, with a distance of 5 kilometers and it is open to all types of shells: skiffs, doubles, fours and eights. The race will start at the Monk bridge in LaSalle, and will finish at the Lachine lock number 5 (6th avenue, Lachine). The registration closes May 18th, 2012. 		<description><![CDATA[Records fell in seven categories at the Hamilton Indoor Rowing Championships Saturday at Leander Boat Club. As the ergometer (indoor rowing) machines cooled, Westdale Warriors emerged as the winners of the first indoor high school rowing title. The championships, held Saturday (Feb. 18th) also featured university and senior athletes, as well as others competing in the 30-and-older masters divisions. Westdale held off an early charge by second-pace St. Mary&#8217;s Crusaders in the junior lightweight divisions. The Warriors prevailed in six races, while St. Mary&#8217;s placed first in five. Bishop Tonnos Titans picked up wins in two divisions. Hillfield-Strathallan College and the new Ancaster high school rowing program entered rowers in a handful of divisions. Anise Truman beat her record from a year ago in winning the senior high school women&#8217;s 135 lbs division. The Grade 12 student at Westdale posted a time of 7:54.8 over the 2,000-metre (2K) distance. Westdale&#8217;s Tom Brown was also on record pace, winning the senior high school men&#8217;s race by more than five seconds in 7:11.3. <p>First-year Westdale rower Griffin Wallace had a stellar debut in the Hamilton championships, winner the junior high school men&#8217;s 150-lbs race in a time of 7:22.9, almost seven seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.</p>
<p>Westdale&#8217;s Vienna Lam pulled double duty Saturday. After racing in the senior women&#8217;s 135-lbs division, Lam won the coxswain&#8217;s crawl, a 1K race, in a record time, 4:06.9.</p>
<p>Warrior rower Daniel Castellana also turned in a first-place finish in the under-23 men&#8217;s 165-lbs division who went head-to-head with McMaster&#8217;s Ian Connell. The latter&#8217;s record time of 6:29.6 was among the fastest of the day.</p>
<p>St. Mary&#8217;s Crusaders earned a victory in the first high school race of the day, courtesy of Dave Naar who turned in a winning time of 7:14.8 in the junior men&#8217;s race.</p>
<p>Kristin Stevens of Bishop Tonnos topped the women&#8217;s race in 8:20.6</p>
<p>Next on the podium for the Crusaders was Matyas Roller, who won the junior men&#8217;s 165-lbs race with a time of 7:28.3.</p>
<p>St. Mary&#8217;s swept the junior women&#8217;s lightweight and midweight divisions, with Mariam Behket topping the lightweights in 8:14.8 and Christina Foden winning the midweight race in a record time of 8:26.6.<br />
Bishop Tonnos picked up another victory as Maria Brydon won the senior high school women&#8217;s race in 7:37.2.</p>
<p>Racing under the Leander banner, Alex Ilic won the high school men&#8217;s senior heavyweight race with a time of 6:48.6.</p>
<p>St. Mary&#8217;s Brandon Willacott was the winner of the men&#8217;s coxswain race with a time of 4:00.4.<br />
Kristen King&#8217;s time of 7:31.4 established the record in the senior women&#8217;s 135-lbs race. Emily Baturin won the under-23 women&#8217;s 135-lbs race for McMaster in 7:50.9.</p>
<p>Leander rower Taylor Iseppon was first in the under-23 women&#8217;s race in 7:36.1.</p>
<p>Aubrey Oldham won the senior men&#8217;s race in 6:27.1, the fastest time of the day.</p>
<p>Taylor Perry of Mohawk College was first in the under-23 men&#8217;s race in 6:37.7.</p>
<p>Racing in the masters 30-and-over division, Sasha Ilic of Leander finished first in a record time of 6:31.4.</p>
<p>Leander&#8217;s Mike Demczuk won the masters men 1K race in 3:19.4.</p>
<p>Next up for local rowers in the Ontario Ergometer Championships March 3 at Ridley College in St. Catharines. Leander rowers hope to get on the water in April.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Greetings to all Rowers, Coaches and Supporters: The Severn River Rower Club will be hosting its 3rd annual indoor rowing event on Saturday, February 25th, 2012 at Regatta Restaurant (Muskoka Wharf) in Gravenhurst, Ontario. Racing starts at 9:00 am and is open to novice, recreational, competitive and masters participants and teams. The entry fee is $35 per adult and $25 for students. This includes lunch (last years’ lunch was fantastic thanks to Regatta Restaurant) and a participation button for entry into all Gravenhurst Winter Carnival events. For out of town participants, the Marriott (Residence Inn) is offering a special rate of $119 (which includes a full hot breakfast buffet, high speed internet and all onsite facilities. Reservations can be made until January 25th, 2012 at the discounted group rate by calling 705 687 6600 and asking for the Severn River Rowing Club group rate.) Cost is $75 for 15 classes, running 2 Jan to 9 April. $10 per drop in class.<br />

		<description><![CDATA[Hello Leander Boat Club! The Awards are given out, the turkeys have been raffled and the docks are out of the water. It&#8217;s winter time!! All of LBC thanks those whose hard work made our 2011 season a successful one both on and off the water. A HUGE thank you to the Masters men and women who took out all the broken sections and created safe docks for next spring. And to the juniors, seniors, and McMaster athletes that cleaned out the boathouse and compound to make our winter training facility. So now winter training season is upon us &#8212; the ergs, weights, and yoga mats are ready for heavy use!! The schedule for all coached sessions for Leander and McMaster is found under the “Training Tab” above. Also under that Tab are the erg and water speed standards for the 2012 season so that you can start setting your performance goals. <p><strong>Senior Men</strong> are being lead by Pia Eastwood and Dan Trussel. Their erg technical session is Tues mornings 6-7:30am. Bob Cherwinski leads a sprinting session for all Men on Friday evenings 6-7:30pm.</p>
<p><strong>Senior Women</strong> are being lead by our newest coach Karly Doehring. Their erg techinical session is Wed mornings 6-7:30am. There is a also a Sat 8am session with Reg Wilson and Ali Gage for all Women.</p>
<p><strong>Masters Men</strong> are being lead by Karly Doehring. Erg technical will be Tues 6-7pm and Sun 8-9am.</p>
<p><strong>Masters Women</strong> are in transition right now. Dean will let us know in Jan whether he will be returning to the Master&#8217;s women program or not. Once that is known, an erg tech session can be organized for the master women with the appropriate coach. For now, the Master&#8217;s women can join in with the men on Sundays 8am with Karly as coach.</p>
<p><strong>McMaster Novice and New Talent Women</strong> are being led by Reg Wilson and Geoff Holloway. Erg tech is Thurs 6-7:30am.</p>
<p><strong>McMaster Novice and New Talent Men</strong> is being led by Bob Cherwinski. Erg Tech is Wed 6-7:30pm.</p>
<p><strong>Peformance Men and Women</strong> &#8212; this group is by invite only and coached by Chantelle. Men erg Tues 6-7:30am, Women Wed 6-7:30am, and both men &amp; women on Fridays 7-8am.</p>
<p><strong>Scullers</strong> &#8211; Chantelle will be leading the 8am sculling session next summer so please get in contact with her to set your winter training schedule. You are welcome to join in the Senior or Masters erg tech sessions.</p>
<p><strong>YOGA</strong> continues on Monday 6-7pm and is open to ALL. $75 for the first of January to end of March session with our instructor Elise Greenspoon.<br />
<strong>CORE CLASS</strong> starts on 7 Dec and runs Wednesdays 6:30-8pm. Open to ALL. Lead by Geoff Holloway.<br />
<strong>KETTLEBELLS</strong> Tues, Thurs 6pm and Sun 8am. Open to all but aimed at Masters usually. Lead by Dean Brown.</p>
<p>There will be a strength program posted in the weight room aimed at the Senior Men and Women. Your lead coach or Chantelle can help you with a weights program that is relevant to you, if you want to lift this winter.</p>
