Competitive

Leander Boat Club is competitive at the Junior, U23, Senior, and Masters Levels. Leander crews participate in a fully rounded summer programme that includes participation at many local and international regattas throughout the summer and fall.

Leander Boat Club plans on sending crews to the flowing regattas:
Summer: Central Ontario Regattas, St. Catherines Invitational, US Nationals, Ontario Championships, and Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.
Fall: Head of the Thames, Head of the Trent, Head of the Ohio, and Head of the Charles.

As a direct result of the Club Competitive Program, Leander has registered many outstanding successes.

In addition to the above races Leander’s top former, current, and aspiring National Team rowers compete each year at the new National Rowing Championships. Last fall Leander rowers Nora Griffiths (U23 women’s pair) and Doug Csima (men’s pair) captured national laurals at this prestigious regatta. Nora and Doug, along with U23 lwt. woman Rebecca Gregory, hope to race for Canada this summer. Over the years, the Leander rowers have represented Canada and their club at the Henley Royal Regatta, the University Games, the Pan Am Games, the Commonwealth (formerly British Empire) Games, and the Olympic Games. Leander continues to be committed to propelling rowers onto Canada’s National Rowing Teams.
